About Panwar Productions

Panwar Music and Dance Productions (PMDP) is a non profit and charitable organisation incorporated in 2009. PMDP aspires to enrich the lives of Youth, adults and communities at large. The company creates innovative and traditional pieces that involve the artistic directors Hemant and Vaishali Panwar and their professional team of dancers and musicians.

The company is involved in genuine promotion of traditional music of aesthetically high standards by arranging and producing musical concerts, workshops and seminars that include visiting artists from around the world. The company proudly specializes in presenting Kathak – A classical dance form with its roots in North India, along with Classical Hindustani Music.

PMDP organises Youth Festival biennial to create opportunities for upcoming dancers, singers and musicians who are at the threshold of their professional career. Panwar music and Dance productions is progressing towards new horizons by amalgamating various art forms: Indian and Canadian – in fusion choreographies – to be staged in the near future. Recently, PMDP premiered its contemporary Kathak Dance piece – With you Between us in prestigious Kalanidhi Festival at Harboufront Centre.

The Dance Drama – Hesperus 1838, scripted and directed by Vaishali Panwar was a well researched, sensitive and marvellously executed play that brought high acclaim for the company. This remarkable piece of theatre was staged to mark 175 years of Indians arrival in Western World. Our special production Rajasthan Calling, an ensemble of tales of desert with exotic synthesis of Music and Dance was presented in Mosaic Festival 2011 to celebrate the Year of India in Canada. The company’s performance for the London Pro Musica Choir at Gateway Church brought South Asian flair to their Jazz concert and was a smashing success. Our annual event – Shradhanjali is a special tribute event to educate the audience about life and contribution of legendary Artists through classical dance and music. Our company dancers are constantly engaged in giving performances in schools across GTA during South Asian heritage month. Our Company is most busy during Diwali season as we create numerous innovative and theme based dance works to be presented at corporate events and charitable organizations. Dance recital at Kathak Mahotsav Canada can well be cited as an impeccably gripping one as company has been invited to perform for the last eight consecutive years. Panwar Music and Dance productions also host a special event “Generations Together” to bridge the gap between youth, adults and seniors and bring them on one platform.

The Artsitic Directors – Hemant & Vaishali Panwar received RANA (Rajasthan Association of North America) award for their outstanding contribution in promoting Kathak in Canada. They were also invited as Guest speakers to address an audience in Creative Industries Symposium at Richmond Hill Centre for performing arts. PMDP successfully organized a special summer intensive Workshop of Tabla & Kathak, supported by Ontario Arts Council, with visiting Artists from India in order to strengthen the artistic relationships between dancers & musicians and produce trained Kathak dance accompanists. Company has recently staged another grand Dance Drama – “Shakuntala” on August 3rd  2013 at Richmond Hill centre for performing Arts which was a smashing success and opened the doors for national and international touring in 2014. Shakuntala dance drama enthralled the audiences in Thunderbay, Hamilton, Kitchener, Sudbury and London. 

The company is working towards developing its new dance drama – Krishna to be staged in 2016 which has traditional as well as new lyrics by Guru Hemant Panwar. The full length drama is being choreographed by Smt Vaishali Panwar that will describe the pristine glory of all attractive – supreme Love God.
